Take Precautions to Keep Your Account Information Safe and Secure
IRS Phishing Scam

A scam email alleging to be from the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is currently being circulated. The email informs recipients that they are eligible for a refund and directs them to a website requesting personal information, including name, social security number, and debit card information. However, this email is not from the IRS and is in fact a phishing scam.

If you are a victim of this scam, here’s what you should do:

  • Forward a copy of the scam to phishing@irs.gov.
  • If you supplied debit card information, call us at 800.877.2345 to cancel your debit card and order a new one.
  • Contact all three credit reporting bureaus and obtain a copy of your credit report and request that each bureau place a “fraud alert” on your credit report.
